A young person’s secure training centre in Northamptonshire has been branded inadequte in a string of key areas.

Inspectors have raised serious concerns about safety at Rainsbrook near Daventry, which cares for 12 to 18 year olds.

Their report also found staff had been on duty while under the influence of drugs while inappropriate DVDs had been smuggled in, apparently for the youngsters to watch.

Staff have also been criticised for poor decision-making while managers are confused and not properly referring incidents.

Overall effectiveness – Inadequate
The safety of young people – Inadequate
The behaviour of young people- Adequate
The well-being of young people – Inadequate
