New name needed for police dog

The Cambridgeshire,Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Police Dog Unit`s calling on the public to help name their newest recruit who came from a rescue centre in Devon.

A new six-week training course for six dogs and their handlers-who will work across the three counties-aims to see them develop into proactive drug dog teams.

The reason the Springer Spaniel currently called Duke needs a new name is because a fellow trainee`s already known as that.

The names in the running are: Buzz, Charlie, Frank, Taz, Tiggy, Trigger, Whizz, Zippy and Zoda.

In order to vote people will need to first like the BCH Dog Unit s Facebook page, which launched on Monday. People will then be able to cast a vote on the poll set up on the page.

Voting closes at 3.30pm on Friday and the winning name will be announced soon after.

To find the Facebook page visit The team can also be followed on Twitter, although votes cast here will not be counted:
