Northamptonshire Police are issuing a warning about the dangers of legal highs after two people were admitted to hospital in Kettering this week after taking them and falling ill.

One of the patients had taken a legal high called Vertex Space Cadet and Vertex Pirate. The other patient is reported to have taken a substance called SPICE .

These were all purchased from the Smoke Hut in New Post Office Square, Corby.

A police spokesperson said:

Legal highs carry serious health risks.

The chemicals they contain have in most cases never been used in drugs for human consumption and haven’t been safety tested.

Users can never be certain what they are taking and what the effects might be.
