POLICE in Corby are appealing for witnesses following a fire at a house in Ripley Walk, in the early hours of Sunday (28 June).

At about 3am, a wheelie bin was set on fire, which then spread to a nearby building.

A 30-year-old woman jumped from the second floor window of the property to escape the fire. She suffered serious injuries as a result and is currently being treated in hospital.

Police are treating the cause of the fire as suspicious and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area the time of the incident, or who has any information about the fire, to contact them.

They would also like to speak to the occupants of a small, dark car, which was in the area around the time of the fire.

A 15-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident. The 15-year-old boy has been released on police bail pending further enquiries and the 24-year-old man is currently in police custody.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
