A multi-cultural festival organised by 22 groups from Black and Minority Ethnic communities across Peterborough will entertain visitors with sights, sounds and tasty treats on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July.
The festival has been organised by the Peterborough Community Group Forum. Representatives from African, Asian and Eastern European countries hope the two day event will promote social cohesion and integration in Peterborough.
The forum is inviting residents and visitors to come and see how music, arts, craft and food can unite community groups with different backgrounds. The forum strives to ensure Peterborough remains a great place to live by celebrating differences and working together to show a genuine community spirit.
On Friday 3 July there will be classical music performed by various community groups at St. Johns Baptist Church. The event will start at 6pm and continue until 9.30pm.
On Saturday 4 July Cathedral Square will be filled with folk dance, drama, music, arts and craft and food stalls.
The multi-cultural festival marks the start of Peterborough’s cultural event season. Events to mark in the calendar include:
- The Portuguese festival, returning on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July
- The Italian festival, on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September
- Black History month, on Saturday 3 and Sunday 11 October
- Diwali festivities on Saturday 31 October
