Northamptonshire Police are appealing for information following several incidents of arson in Wellingborough at the weekend.
Seven fires, where fencing, plants and a wheelie bin were set alight, were reported to the emergency services overnight on Friday 10 to Saturday 11 July.
Three of the fires were started at properties in Priory Road, Robin Lane and Heron Close, while there were two fires in Nightingale Lane and another two in Abbotts Way.
All seven fires are being treated as suspicious.
Inspector Lara Alexander-Lloyd told Connect FM: ” These fires caused a lot of damage and in one incident in particular, in Nightingale Lane, a fence was set alight which spread to a nearby shed, causing more than a thousand pounds worth of damage to the shed and the tools inside.
” Fortunately, none of the fires spread to any houses on this occasion, but that could very easily have happened and I d like to remind people of the very real dangers of arson – it’s not just criminal damage, it can have potentially fatal consequences.”
Anyone who has any information about the person or people setting these fires, or anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the location of any of the fires, is urged to contact police as soon as possible.
