Magistrates in Corby have launched an online petiton to try and save the town’s court.
The facility, along with the one in Kettering, is on a list of more than 50 the government’s planning to close.
Kettering’s County Court is also on the list for closure.
The man behind the campaign, Corby Bench Chairman, Terry Knights told Connect FM:
“The principle of local justice where local people (magistrates) deal with local offenders at a local court at the heart of the community has been progressively weakened over the last decade.
The closure of Corby Magistrates’ Court and other courts across the country will be the final nail in the coffin of local justice.”
