Disruption as railway tracks are removed

Disused railway tracks are to be removed in London Road, Northampton, with additional resurfacing taking place at the same time.

Works will commence today (Wednesday August 12th) with footway closure only until Friday (August 14th).

The road will then be closed in its entirety over the weekend of Saturday August 15th and Sunday 16th with access maintained for local residents/businesses.

From Monday 17th August to Friday 4th September (weekdays only) the road will be reopened with temporary signals in place. On Sunday 23rd and 30th August, an inbound road closure only will be put in place while the Northamptonshire County Council works are underway.

The electronic signs in the town will show messages advising of the closure and there will be signs being put up on site next week with communications sent out to local residents.

Officials say the works are being carried out during the school summer holidays while the roads are relatively quiet.
