Construction services company Carillion Construction Limited has been selected as the preferred contractor to build Hampton Gardens, a new free school that will educate 1,500 pupils in Peterborough.
It follows a competitive process carried out by the the city council under the Education Funding Agency Contractor s Framework. Carillion will shortly work with the city council in developing proposals for the project build.
The new secondary school is a joint project between the city council and Cambridgeshire County Council and is set to open in Peterborough’s new Hampton Gardens development in September 2017.
Hampton Academies Trust, which runs the nearby Hampton College, will manage the school which will serve a catchment area that includes Hampton, as well as the nearby village of Yaxley.
A public consultation event’s being held at Hampton College on Wednesday 2 September 2015 from 5pm until 7.30pm for members of the public to comment omn the plans.
Councillor John Holdich, leader of the city council and cabinet member for education, skills and university told Connect FM: “The plans for Hampton Gardens give a wonderful vision of a first class building that will provide the very best education facilities for secondary aged students across the Hampton development and Yaxley areas.”
