Corby Borough Council`s agreed to oppose the closure of the town’s magistrates court.
Members of the local authority’s One Corby Policy Committee agreed to oppose the closure.
A unanimous vote was made to support the Magistrates in their campaign to keep the court open with members agreeing that the court is a vital service to the borough.
Leader of Corby Borough Council and chair of the committee, Cllr Tom Beattie, told Connect FM:
“Corby Borough Council is happy to support the Corby Magistrates Court s fight to remain open. Justice should be quick and as easy to access as possible, which is why a Court service in the town is important so that unnecessary delays are avoided. We hope to see a positive outcome and that the court is able to remain in Corby.”
