Man jailed for stabbing

A teenager who stabbed a man outside a Peterborough pub has been jailed for almost six years.

Hayden Snart, 19, attacked the 31-year-old victim with a knife to the chest following a verbal altercation outside the Fayre Spot pub in Bretton on February 28.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to Papworth Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Snart, of no fixed abode, had previously pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

DC Kevin Poole said: “This was a very serious attack which thankfully didn t have fatal consequences. This sentence sends out a message for those who are willing to use and carry a knife.

He was jailed for five years and 11 months at Peterborough Crown Court on Tuesday (September 15).

Snart was sentenced to one year for actual bodily harm, two years and eight months for robbery and two years and three months for grievous bodily harm with intent. He was also sentenced to three months for possession of a class A drug and one year for possession of an offensive weapon which he will serve concurrently to the other charges.
