Pensioner dies after home attack
Northamptonshire Police have launched a murder investigaiton following the death of a pensioner.
74-year-old David Brickwood, was found by officers at his home on Lindsay Avenue in the early hours of Saturday morninng, having apparently been violently attacked.
Officers performed first aid but he died later at Northampton General Hospital – they’re asking anyone with information to come forward.
A major incident room has now been set up to investigate Mr Brickwood s death, which police are treating as murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Graham, who is leading the investigation, told Connect FM: “This was a dreadful assault on an elderly man in his own home in the early hours of the morning.
“Fortunately, incidents of this nature are incredibly rare, and I would appeal to the public to contact us if they know anything about Mr Brickwood s death or what may have happened in the hours leading up to this incident.”
Anyone who was in the Lindsay Avenue area in the early hours of this morning who saw or heard anything unusual is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
Similarly, anyone who knows anything about this incident is asked to either contact the police on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use their anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
