Immigrants found in back of lorry

Northamptonshire Police say six illegal immigrants are in custody after being found in the back of a lorry.

A seventh, a man, is in hospital but his condition isn’t serious.

They were discovered yesterday on the Brackmills industrial estate in Northampton.

All of the roads around the Brackmills Industrial Estate in Northampton were reopened late yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police told Connect FM: “Six of the people who were found in the back of the lorry are now in police custody. One man remains in hospital, but it is not believed his condition is serious.

“We would like to thank everyone in and around the Brackmills Industrial Estate for their co-operation and patience while we dealt with this situation.”

“Officers were called to the Brackmills Industrial Estate just before 2pm following reports of a number of illegal immigrants being discovered in the back of a lorry.
“Because of concerns about the medical condition of the people in the vehicle, they needed to be assessed by the ambulance service at the scene.
“The area where the lorry was contained was closed off to the public as a precaution while investigations continued.”
