Fire’s badly damaged a sofa warehouse in Peterborough.

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade and Yaxley were called to the blazeĀ in Wulfric Square, Bretton.

A single storey building segregated into four units had smoke issuing when crews arrived. The unit that was on fire measured 20m by 30m and contained a large amount of sofas.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used jets, hose reels, and positive pressure ventilation fans to extinguish the fire.

The fire was extinguished by 10.55pm and crews continued to dampen down while a fire investigation was undertaken.

All crews returned to their stations by 12.10am.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact the police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
