The financial problems at Northampton Town appear to be mounting.
HMRC has now issued legal proceedings against the club – on the day it has to pay back a £10.25 million loan form Northampton Borough Council.
The Cobblers have been hit with a Winding Up Order by the taxman for ‘monies outstanding’.
In a statement to Connect FM, chairman David Cardoza blames the ongoing takeover saga for their cash problems.
However, he says he’s confident both will be resolved soon.
He also says he’s close to agreeing a deal for the sale of the club.
