The Greyfriars site in Northampton has generated a huge amount of interest, with more than 100 requests for information.
Northampton Borough Council s Cabinet will hear a report on progress at the site during a meeting next Wednesday (11 November.)
Following demolition in March, work started on preparing the site for development, and July saw the start of marketing activity.
The original deadline for expressions of interest was 9 October, but due to the high number of enquiries, this was extended to 6 November.
Developers have been invited to put forward their suggestions for what they believe will work on the site, and three or four of these proposals will be shortlisted.
Shortlisted bidders will work closely with the council s project team to develop their proposals, which can then go out for public consultation ahead of final Cabinet approval.
The process will take account of the many suggestions put forward by members of the public during a consultation held in August 2014.
The shortlist is expected to be announced in late December or early January, with final submissions expected by the end of February 2016. A developer will be appointed by May.
