A Northamptonshire Police officer, who accidentally discharged a PAVA spray at a colleague, has been given a final written warning following a gross misconduct hearing.
37 year old PC Greg Taylor was delivering a briefing when, during a verbal exchange with another policeman, he pointed the canister at him and it went off.
He later submitted an entry on the computer for a new spray and under the ‘Circumstances’ section stated ‘Leaking.’
It was alleged he deliberately misled or made a false record about the condition of the canister to avoid criticism for its unauthorised discharge.
Meanwhile, a policeman from Peterborough has been cleared of two counts of misconduct in public office.
45 year old PC Symian Traer-Goffe, who`s based at Hampton Station, was found not guilty of one of the alleged offences and the other charge was discontinued.
However he`s due in court today charged with common assault.
