New Northampton Town Chairman Kelvin Thomas has confirmed staff and players’ wages have finally been paid.
The money became available after the club’s bank account was unfrozen following their recent finanical problems.
Mr Thomas told Cobblers Player that it’s been a good first week.
“We got a very good reception last Saturday which was enjoyable and that makes all the hard work worthwhile. The win helped but as I ve said before now this is where all the hard work starts.
“The openness and friendliness we ve had from the staff and supporters has been really encouraging, we ve come in saying that we don t want to change too many things but with that everyone has a responsibility to keep doing what they have been doing and maybe even do a little bit more.
“The players have got us to this point but the pressure isn t off just because the wages and the bills have been paid, we need to keep pushing and we need to keep the intensity up.
“It’s nice being in the top three now but we want to be there at the end of the season.”
The Cobblers will be hoping to get a money-spinning third round FA Cup draw – possibly against a Premier League team – if they beat Northwich Victoria on Saturday.
