Report shows poor standards in primary schools

Peterborough has been named as one of the worst areas in the country for under-performing primary schools.

Just 75% of pupils in the city are achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and maths – according to official figures.

Overall, there’s been a fall in the number of primary schools in England which are under-performing, but there remains wide regional variations.

The study by the Press Association also shows that children at the smallest primary schools, are three times more likely to achieve top test scores than those at the largest schools.
