Three people have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after raids at a number of shops in Northampton.

Police say a large amount of illicit tobacco has also been seized while fire officers also uncovered potential offences relating to the use of rooms being used as living space above two premises.

Police worked alongside officers from Trading Standards, Immigration, HMRC, Fire Protection and Northampton Borough Council Licensing Enforcement carryign out licensing checks at six stores across the town last week.

Similar operations are planned to take place over the coming months.
