Northampton Town are eight points clear of second-placed Plymouth at the top of League Two after a 1-0 win at promotion rivals Oxford last night.

The result means the Cobblers equalled a 56-year-old club record as Marc Richards’ penalty gave them an eighth successive victory.

Chris Wilder’s side are also 18 points ahead of Accrington in fourth.

In the Southern Premier, Kettering could only manage a 1-1 at home to strugglers Frome.

Rushden & Diamonds are still top of Diviison One Central after their 2-0 win over St Ives.
