Speedway – Peterborough are drawing up a shortlist to succeed Carl Johnson as team boss.

He’s stood down for family reasons but he insists he will be back at the East of England Showground to support Panthers in their quest for honours.

Johnson’s reign ended on a high as Peterborough triumphed 57-36 at Scunthorpe on Sunday in a Premier League Cup Midland Group clash – their second big success of the season against the Scorpions.

Dale Allitt has been granted permission to step in for the short-term with a busy spell of four fixtures looming large in the next couple of weeks starting with a League Cup clash at Ipswich on Thursday (April 14) ahead of a Premier League opener at Rye House on Saturday (April 16).

Promoter Ged Rathbone says they’re not going to make any knee-jerk reaction and Dale stepping in gives thewm continuity.
