Pension changes to save steel jobs?

Ministers are thought to be preparing to launch a consultation on making changes to pensions law in an attempt to save Tata’s UK steel-making business.

The government says it’s looking at ‘all options’ in relation to the Indian conglomerate’s 15-billion pound UK pensions liabilities.

A consultation could lead to a major restructuring of the Tata pension fund.

It’s hoped the move would make the firm’s assets – including the plant in Corby – more attractive to buyers.
