A man`s been jailed for life for violently assaulting his former partner in front of her two children at her home in Rushden.
30 year old Riza Guzelyert will have to serve a minimum of 14 years after the attack in March last year.
His victim received 11 wounds to her neck, chest, legs and arms and sustained life-threatening injuries.
The court heard Guzelyert had previously carried out a series of acts of intimidation against the woman who`d reported him to police for harassment.
The trial jury watched the frenzied assault take place on CCTV cameras installed at the victim s home and heard from neighbours who were praised by Judge Rupert Mayo for their bravery while giving evidence.
John Straw, prosecuting, said the impact of the assault had had a significant effect on the victim with her requiring hospital treatment for the rest of her life in addition to the emotional distress caused to her and her children.
Judge Mayo also imposed a restraining order until further notice, forbidding him to contact the victim, her two children and her former husband.
