Unearth History in Wellingborough. Volunteer at Chester Farm.
Want to help unravel an amazing Wellingborough story for generations to come? Chester Farm is an ambitious and exciting project that will take a little-known site in Wellingborough and transform it into a nationally recognised heritage site. The plan is to preserve the site, ensure you can learn about Northamptonshire’s heritage from it, and offer you plenty of ways in which you might like join us, if you chose to do so.
This is your opportunity to help archaeological professionals with a live dig by getting involved in practical work and finding out how archaeological investigation really happens. The priority for this year’s archaeological investigation is to assess, evaluate and, where necessary, mitigate for any archaeology in the area that will be affected by the forthcoming development of the site. We have a large area to excavate before the contractors arrive on site, so your support in ensuring we are ready in time will be much appreciated. We will be busy but also learning and having fun.
We ask that people can attend for a full day 9-4 at Chester Farm Wellingborough.
Were on site 19th – 31st July and welcome people to contact us via emailing chesterfarmvolunteer@Northamptonshire.gov.uk or phone 07342076904 to book a session.
