A police officer has been cleared of gross misconduct at a Northamptonshire Police misconduct hearing.
Police Constable Michael Clark, who appeared before a misconduct hearing yesterday, faced allegations that he had breached the standards of professional behaviour.
A professional standards investigation was carried out after a complaint was received against PC Clark following allegations he misrepresented evidence relating to an allegation of assault in which a member of the public was implicated as the suspect.
The panel concluded that PC Clark s conduct did not amount to gross misconduct and did not breach the standards of professional behaviour of honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities, orders and instructions.
In view of the failings identified in the course of PC Clark s investigation as detailed in the proceedings it was the panel s view that the officer would benefit from training and development to ensure that he provides the standards of service reasonably expected by Northamptonshire Police.
