Warning to lorry drivers after theft
POLICE are urging lorry drivers to be vigilant after 285 litres of fuel were stolen from a lorry parked in a layby on the eastbound A14 in Northamptonshire.

The lorry was parked in a layby between junction 1 Welford and junction 2 A508 Market Harborough and, sometime between 10pm on Wednesday 17 August and 6.30am on Thursday, 18 August, the offender/s broke into and emptied the fuel tank. They also slashed the side curtains, however, nothing was taken from inside the lorry.

Officers are warning drivers to be vigilant when parking along the A14 and other main roads and truck stops. Drivers are urged to report anything suspicious to police at the earliest opportunity on 101 and, if they believe a crime is in progress, to call 999 immediately.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
