Jail for driver after footballers crash

A man who drove his car into two men in Cambridgeshire and then fled has been jailed for 40 months.

40 year old Jan Adamec of Shetland Road in Haverhill was driving along Dullingham Road in Woodditton in July when he collided with 28 year old Shaun Whiter and 31 year old Joey Abbs who were changing a flat tyre.

The court heard how Mr Whiter – an estate agent and footballer – had to have both his legs amputated at the knee.

Mr Abbs – who plays for Soham Town Rangers – also suffered serious injuries.
