Fire service plea over parking

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking motorists to be more considerate when parking in the street.

The move follows an incident in Kettering.

An appliance struggled to get to a blaze because of vehciles parked on either side of the residential road and close to a junction.

The Highway Code currently states: “Do not stop or park anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services…and do not stop or park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space.”
