A man`s been jailed for 12 years for the grooming and sexual abuse of a Northamptonshire teenager who was under 16.
19-year-old Connor Hibberd from Hillington in Norfolk was also placed on the sex offenders register for life and is now the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Louisa Dyer is from the force’s RISE (reducing incidents of sexual exploitation) team investigated the case. She said:
“I’d like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victim, who courageously gave evidence to the court about the protracted abuse and control she was subjected to over a two-year period, starting when she was just 14 years-old.
“I hope yesterday’s sentencing enables her to achieve some closure. She will continue to be supported by specialist staff from the RISE team to enable her to recover from this terrible ordeal.
“The judge described Hibberd as a manipulative young man and gave the extended licence conditions in order to protect the public from harm having deemed him a dangerous individual.”
