PHIL’S POSH BLOG…Bring on the Cobblers

Connect FM

It has been another crazy week or so at the ABAX Stadium, home of Peterborough United and it is only going to get crazier as the build up continues to Saturday’s local derby against Northampton Town at Sixfields.

A 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers in front of the tv cameras was an excellent result and one that lifted us into fifth place in the League One table. 24 hours later and we were hosting an England under 18 international against France with over 3,000 supporters inside the stadium.

We were pleased with the attendance and pleased to see so many youngsters in the crowd watching the next generation of English footballers. Of course, it wouldn’t be England without a penalty shoot-out failure (France won 5-4 on spot-kicks after a goalless draw in normal time), but the young Lions had already claimed success in the mini-tournament which also included Poland.

So, onto Saturday, as we prepare for the big derby with the Cobblers who will still be smarting after a 3-0 win for Grant McCann’s men last month. Since that result, both teams have gone on different paths in terms of their league form, but let’s be honest, it goes out of the window when you face a foe.

I am sure it will be a cracking atmosphere inside Sixfields and we will be bringing you all the big match build-up on Talking Sport this Friday evening from 5pm until 6pm.
