Deepings patients to benefit from practice extension and re-development

Patients at The Deepings Practice will benefit from a major NHS funding boost to improve facilities at the practice.

The Deepings Practice, which is part of South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, has received approximately £1m from the NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund, which will go towards the extension and re-development of the existing practice, to include the building of eleven new consulting rooms together with a theatre suite, allowing the practice to undertake a wider range of minor surgery on their premises, treating patients closer to their home.

The NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is a national funding programme to support GP practices to make improvements to services for local patients including more modern, expanded facilities and use of new technologies.

Dr Majid Akram GP and Partner at The Deepings Practice, said,

“We are delighted to have received this amount of funding from NHS England’s Estates and Technology Transformation Fund.  It is enabling us to realise our ambitious plans for the practice, which we are sure will provide a major boost to patients and staff alike allowing us to provide more care closer to home.  Patients will be aware that work on the extension and re-development of the practice is already well underway and we appreciate their understanding during this time, particularly around any disruption which we will do our best to keep to a minimum.”

Dr Kevin Hill, GP and Chair, South Lincolnshire CCG, added,

“This funding from the Estates and Technology Transformation Fund will allow The Deepings Practice to embark on an exciting and transformational period of building and improvement, which will make a huge difference to both the practice and patients alike.”

Di Pegg, Head of Primary Care for NHS England in Lincolnshire, said:

“We want every patient to have good access to healthcare in their local area, in facilities that meet their needs. That’s why the NHS is investing more money to improve GP services across the country – including here at The Deepings Practice.

“The Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is increasing investment in GP premises and technology to enable a wider and improved range of services for patients. This is part of the General Practice Forward View, our plan to invest an extra £2.4bn a year in general practice nationally by 2020/21 to help manage increasing demand and transform services for patients.”
