Tories pick Mayoral candidate for new local authority

The Conservatives have chosen their candidate to be the elected Mayor of a single local authority for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

The leader of East Cambridgeshire District CouncilĀ  James Palmer was picked by party members over the weekend.

Rod Cantril will stand for the Lib Dems, Paul Bullen for UKIP, Julie Howell for the Greens and Peter Dawe as an independent.

Labour are yet to select their candidate.
