Police chief to reveal plans

Peterborough`s Police and Crime Commissioner, Jason Ablewhite will present his Police and Crime Plan to the Police and Crime Panel in Huntingdon today.

The plan sets out his objectives for the next four years and provides detail on how financial and other resources will be met.

Since being elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough in May 2016, Jason Ablewhite has spent time out in the county meeting members of the community, and partners, staff and officers within Cambridgeshire Constabulary to devise a Plan that best meets the county’s needs.

Mister Ablewhite says:

“This year will bring lots of challenges and new areas of responsibility. My Plan will provide clear direction to the constabulary about the action required to keep our communities safe.”

The Plan will be presented to the Police and Crime Panel at a meeting on 1st February who will have the opportunity to comment and make any recommendations. The Commissioner will then publish the final Plan at the beginning of March.

Built around four main themes: victims, offenders, communities and transformation, the Police and Crime Plan includes setting the policing element of the council tax and how crime and disorder reduction grants will be awarded. It also includes the means by which the Chief Constable will report back to the Commissioner on how the police service is being delivered.
