Swimmers from across the county will be diving into Corby East Midlands International Pool this weekend as the facility hosts the postponed sessions of the Northamptonshire Amateur Swimming Association 2017 County Swimming Championships.
As previously reported, the first weekend of competition due to be held on 28th and 29th January was unfortunately postponed due to a technical issue, but now the swimmers have their caps and goggles at the ready as they prepare to battle it out this weekend on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February.
The Championships will see hundreds of talented swimmers compete, featuring individual sprint, middle and long distance events as well as team relay events. These events provide the opportunity for swimmers to gain qualification times for the 2017 Midland Regional and National Championships including the Para Swimming Championships.
This is the eighth time that Corby East Midlands International Pool has proudly hosted the competition, using the 50m pool for all events. This year there are 13 sessions of competition taking place which include heats and finals with the fastest 8 from heats contesting finals for each of the 6 age groups.
Due to the event taking place, there will be no public swimming, swimming/diving lessons or supervised diving taking place throughout the day on both the Saturday and Sunday. Corby Borough Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please note that the Health Suite, Gym, Studio Classes and Cafe will NOT be affected by this event.
Please visit Corby Borough Council’s website, www.corby.go.uk, for any further information on changes to the timetable.
Spectators for the event are more than welcome to come along and cheer the swimmers on but please note that there will be a small admission fee to the Championships of £3 per session or £5 per day. Events programmes will cost £1 per day.
