It`s Shrove Tuesday and there`ll be a fun run style Pancake Race in the Precincts at Peterborough Cathedral today.
Those taking part will make donations to help with the running costs of the iconic building in the city.
Canon Ian Black of Peterborough Cathedral said:
“Shrove Tuesday is traditionally a day of fun before the fasting of Lent begins the next day. I’m delighted that we will be holding a pancake race. It promises to be a great event for the community. Lent lasts 40 days and reminds us of the time Jesus spent in the wilderness in prayer, reflection and fasting before he began his public ministry. Like him, we use the days of Lent to pray and reflect as we prepare for the Easter celebrations which follow.”
