Gabriel Zakuani has been offered a new contract, subject to an agreement being reached on his international commitments.
Reflecting on the departures, boss Justin Edinburgh said,
“Every decision is a tough one.
“Adam Smith’s contract was up and I felt it was an opportunity for me to make a change and try and make us better in that department.
“We will be looking to bring in another senior keeper, David Cornell has done well in the last couple of games and James Goff is coming through but he is still a little way off the first team and you need two senior keepers in your squad.
“As far as Zander goes, we had talks with him and the impression I got was that he wants and needs a fresh challenge and I can totally understand that.
“Zander has been excellent for this football club over the last three years and for me in my time here.
“I’m sorry to see him go, he is a true professional and we wish him all the best in whatever new challenge he decides upon.”
