The number of children arrested by Northants police has fallen by 66% in the last six years, according to a charity.
The Howard League for Penal Reform’s says Cambridgeshire police have also seen a drop – 71% in the last six years.
The number of children being taken into custody in England and Wales has dropped in the last six years – by two thirds.
Chief Executive Frances Crook says: “It means that the police are directing their resources in a much more constructive way.”
