A man who snatched a pensioner’s handbag in Peterborough – before attempting another robbery – has been jailed for five years.
Alan Cuerden grabbed the bag on Atherstone Avenue on the afternoon of 8th August – before the 80-something victim attemped to give chase.
Cuerden was then confronted by a member of the public – before dropping the item and a knife and running off.
He later entered a shop on Everdon Way and threatened staff with a knife – customers called police and barricaded the door until they arrived.
Cambridgeshire Police has described his acts as cowardly.
