Northamptonshire Police say three people have been arrested on Day One of their operation ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix.
No crimes were reported by members of the public, but following intelligence leads, three people were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including carrying an offensive weapon and being in possession of drugs.
It is believed the three had travelled to Silverstone to steal from race goers’ tents.
Fans who were there yesterday were treated to music from Madness after seeing their heroes, including Lewis Hamilton, on the Pit Walk. (Lewis picture courtesy of Silverstone FB page HERE)
Silverstone is expected to attract record crowds for this weekend.
Around 350,000 people are expected to go through the gates in all – attracted by lower ticket prices and a British leader in the drivers’ standings.
Lewis Hamilton has a 10-point lead on Brackley-based Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg heading into the race.

Anyone not attending the event is advised to avoid the area.
