Police are appealing for witnesses following a ram raid at the Londis supermarket in Weldon, near Corby, in the early hours of Saturday (28 November).
Officers were called to the shop in High Street shortly before 3.30am, after the offenders attempted to steal a cash machine by driving a telescopic telehandler (a type of fork-lift used in agriculture) into the shop.
Nothing was stolen, however, the building was badly damaged.
Officers investigating the incident are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around the time of the incident, to contact police.
In particular, they would like to speak to anyone who saw a black Nissan Navarra, a black Volkswagen Golf or a Class Scorpion Telehandler being driven through Weldon or the surrounding area in the early hours of Saturday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
