Police in Peterborough are vowing to continue to crack down on domestic violence.
The pledge comes after a 26-year-old man was jailed for six years for attacking his partner in the city.
Martins Bukovskis attacked the woman following a party at his home on Gladstone Street in January.
The court heard how Bukovskis repeatedly punched the victim and dragged her around “like she was a toy” after he had consumed alcohol and smoked cannabis.
The woman, who is in her 20s, received a broken rib, internal bleeding, a fractured eye socket and wrist as a result of the unprovoked attack.
Bukovskis pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and GBH at Peterborough Crown Court and was as sentenced to six years in prison.
