GPs in Peterborough are urging local residents to seek medical advice and help from them instead of going to A&E.
Peterborough City Hospital has seen a rise in the number of people using their emergency department this year.
Officials say one of the reasons is people attending with minor conditions that they have had for a long time which could have been seen by a GP or pharmacist earlier.
- Back pain that could have been seen by a GP when it was first started, but patients are leaving it until it s so bad they feel they need A&E for help
- Concerns about a coughs that last a long time that could be helped by a pharmacist
- Complications of common infections, such as ear and throat infections, which would not have escalated had patients seen a GP much earlier.
