The most popular baby names in Peterborough in 2016 have been revealed and there’s a new name at the top for girls.
The number one name for baby girls registered in the city over the past year was Amelia, followed by Sophia and Olivia according to figures released by Peterborough Register Office.
For the boys, and for the ninth year in a row, it was Mohammed, followed by Oliver in second and Harry in third place.
Amelia climbed from second place in 2015 to take the top spot this year. Four names also break into the top 20 for girls with Evie, Freya, Emelia and Evelyn new for 2016.
New entries in the top 20 for boys were Max, Logan and Ethan.

Judy Wilson, superintendent registrar at Peterborough City Council, said: “Following the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte in recent years both names have continued to increase in popularity with Peterborough parents.
“Overall there are no major changes at the top of the lists, although there a few new names in the top 20 this year including Ethan, Evie, Freya and Logan.”
Names to drop out of the lists included Archie, James, Joseph, Millie, Maya and Sienna.
