Police are urging horse riders across Northamptonshire to be vigiliant after a number of break ins at stable yards.
Saddles, riding tacks and feed have been damaged in Castle Ashby and Greens Norton in recent weeks.
Officers believe suspects are using stanley knives to break in – they’re appealing for witnesses or information.
Below is a list of safety tips:
– Take valuables including tack away with you when leaving the yard
– Ensure gates and doors are locked and secured, even if you’ll only be away for a short time
– If you see anything odd at all, let your yard manager or owner know. Make a note of suspicious activity/vehicles and report via 101 or online at www.northants.police.uk/reportonline
– Arrange to have your tack security marked to make it less attractive to thieves
