District and Borough Councils across Northamptonshire have reacted to the County Council’s latest spending proposals.
It’s part of an ongoing financial crisis.
Yesterday the County authority confirmed it needs to save between 60 and 70 million pounds to balance its budgets this year.
It’s proposed safeguarding some essential services – and setting aside enough to maintain highways and waste collections.
In a joint statement – the seven local councils say they agree with NCC’s desire to work closely together – and that this will be absolutely essential if plans for unitary authorities are to be successful.
They also want to make sure services that are delivered remain of the highest quality.
