Councillors from across Northamptonshire are gathering today for the first of two seminars to help them understand more about the process for creating two new unitary councils.
The event at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton’s being hosted by the Local Government Association.
The second next week will focus on how unitary authorities operate and the opportunities that can arise from them.
All of the borough and district councils in Northants and the County Council are currently awaiting a decision from the Secretary of State on whether they’ll be replaced with two new unitary authorities from May 2020.
The proposals came about after financial problems were uncovered at the County Council.
